Santorini (Thira) International Airport
There are no direct flights from the U.S. to Santorini, so you'll need to take a connecting flight.
One option is to fly directly to Athens and then book a short flight to Santorini with airlines like EasyJet or other regional carriers.
Alternatively, you can fly into Athens and take a ferry to Santorini. The ferries are large, comfortable, and a great option if you prefer to travel by sea.
Santorini does not have Uber, but you’ll find taxis readily available outside the airport and ferry port. Keep in mind that taxi fares can sometimes be higher if you don’t speak Greek—just a friendly heads-up! Also, taxis do not accept credit cards, so be sure to have cash on hand, preferably in Euros (though USD may be accepted).
If you prefer more flexibility, you can rent a car. Most rentals in Greece are manual, but automatic options are available at a higher cost.
When we visit, we usually rent an ATV which is super convenient! The roads in Santorini are narrow, and parking can be tricky, so an ATV makes getting around much easier.
Don't forget, we will be providing transportation from select hotels to and from the Welcome Santorini Soirée Brunch and the White Affair Beach Party
In Greece, most businesses prefer payments with Mastercard or Visa, while American Express is often not accepted anywhere. Keep this in mind when making purchases to avoid any inconvenience.
If you’d like to explore Santorini without renting a vehicle, your hotel can call a taxi for you to any destination. Just keep in mind—this isn’t the U.S., and things tend to move at a more relaxed pace in Europe, so patience is key!
While the days are warm and beautiful, the nights can get quite chilly—even in the summer! When I visited at the end of July last year, I was freezing in the evenings. Be sure to pack a light jacket or sweater for nighttime.
Don’t forget to bring power adapters/converters so you can charge your devices—these can easily be ordered on Amazon.
Also, keep in mind that some hotels do not provide irons, so you may want to bring a travel steamer. If you do, make sure it’s dual voltage for worldwide use, as some American steamers won’t work in Europe. You can find compatible options on Amazon as well!
